Who we are

Brightbark Cranberry Ltd ("we", "us") is a company registered in Scotland (Company No. SC890148). Our registered address is 29 McBaith Way, Dunfermline, KY11 8YY. We are the controller for the personal data collected through this website, www.brightbarkcranberry.co.uk.

What data we collect, and why

At present, the only personal data we collect through this website is the information you choose to give us when you complete our contact form to make an enquiry. This is typically your name, your email address, and whatever details you include in your message.

We use this information only to respond to your enquiry and to correspond with you about it. We do not use it for marketing, and we do not add you to any mailing list.

We also use analytics and advertising tools on this website (see “Cookies” below). Where you consent, these tools collect information about how you use the site — such as the pages you view, how you arrived at the site, and technical information about your device and browser (for example, browser type, operating system, screen size, approximate location, and a randomly generated identifier). This information helps us understand how the site is used and supports our advertising.

Our lawful basis

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR), we must have a "lawful basis" for using your personal data. For handling enquiries, our lawful basis is legitimate interests — specifically, our interest in responding to people who contact us about our services.

For analytics and advertising cookies, our lawful basis is your consent, which you give through our cookie banner and can withdraw at any time.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry correspondence for 12 months after our last contact with you, unless your enquiry leads to an ongoing relationship, in which case we keep it for as long as needed for that purpose and any legal obligations (for example, tax affairs). After that we delete it.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data.

Our website is hosted on Squarespace, and contact form submissions are processed and stored through Squarespace's systems on our behalf. Squarespace acts as our data processor for this. Squarespace is a US-based company, and your data may be transferred to and stored in the United States.

We also use Google Analytics and Google advertising services (including Google Ads and DoubleClick) to measure how our site is used and to support remarketing. Where you consent, information about your visit is shared with Google, which acts as a processor and/or independent controller for these services. You can read Google’s privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy. Google is a US-based company, and your data may be transferred to and stored in the United States.

International transfers

Where your data is transferred outside the UK (for example, to Squarespace or Google in the United States), that transfer is protected by appropriate safeguards. These providers use the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK's International Data Transfer Addendum as the legal basis for these transfers, and comply with the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies. These fall into the following categories:

Strictly necessary cookies are required to make the site work — for example, a security cookie used by Squarespace to protect form submissions. These are always active and do not require your consent.

Analytics cookies are set by Google Analytics 4 (for example, cookies beginning “_ga”) and help us understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are most visited. These are only set where you consent.

Advertising cookies are set by Google advertising services (Google Ads and DoubleClick) to support remarketing and measure advertising performance. These are only set where you consent.

We use a cookie banner to ask for your consent before placing any non-essential (analytics or advertising) cookies. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time through the cookie settings on our site.

Your rights

UK GDPR gives you rights over personal data that relates to you. You can:
